Emory Conference Center Hotel's Environmental Responsibility

We take pride in holding ourselves responsible for the environmental impact on all aspects of our operation.

We have made a commitment to:

  • Encourage reduction, reuse, and recycling in our everyday operation. Our state-of-the-art single stream-recycling unit allows us to increase the amount of materials to be
    recycled daily.
  • Maintain our grounds and buildings in a sensible way to preserve our pristine environment.

  • Educate employees on their responsibility for the use of resources, including water and energy conservation.  We have our own Green Team of Managers and Associates to assist in driving our efforts.

Promote and support other environmental organizations to further the research, education and standards. Establish goals and measurements through the implementation of a comprehensive environmental management plan.

Did you know?
We are the only hotel in Georgia that has a single stream-recycling unit. This allows us to centralize all recycling.

We recycle food products with a state of the art compost unit that provides recycled gray water for our landscaping needs.

Waste oils from our kitchen are taken to a recycling center and converted into a bio-diesel fuel which is used to fuel Cliff busses that provide complimentary transportation at Emory University.

Coffee served throughout the hotel is Rainforest Alliance Certified, which focuses on how farms are managed as well as the environmental impact:

  • Our passenger van runs on a corn based
    ethanol fuel.
  • We recycle over 41 tons of waste annually.
  • Our main sources include all of our paper products (including cardboard), glass, metals, and plastics.
  • We use cleaning products that are environmentally safe and acid free.
  • Our paint is low VOC. (volatile organic compounds)
  • Only energy efficient appliances are purchased.

Linens and uniforms are donated to local charities.
We encourage our guests and associates to use public transportation such as MARTA and Emory Cliff Busses, as well as car-pooling. We also participate in Bike Emory, loaning our guests bikes to explore our area. Check with our concierge.

The Emory Conference Center Hotel is the only conference center in the State of Georgia to carry certification from Green Seal Inc. which meets Environmental Standard for U.S.
